Physician - Primary Care, Crown Point CBOC

The incumbent is a licensed independent provider who is responsible for the management of patients while following VA clinical guidelines with documentation in the electronic medical record. The physician will work in a team setting with other physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and support staff assigned to perform duties to accomplish the treatment of our patients. Computer skills are essential as the VA CBOC is fully computerized for note documentation, entering orders and requesting consults. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
Care for Acute and Chronic Illness:
Care for acute and chronic illness is the routine detection and management of acute and chronic conditions commonly seen in primary care including, but not limited to:
acute upper respiratory infection, headache and back pain, dizziness, urinary tract infection, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, osteoporosis, thyroid disease, kidney disease, gastrointestinal disease, lung disease, etc. Preventative Services:
Includes age-appropriate cancer screenings, nutrition counseling, HIV screening and counseling, smoking cessation counseling and treatment, immunizations, etc. Coordination of Care:
Includes working across care settings, accessing health care providers and community programs, communicating with patients, and communicating with primary and specialty care providers regarding evaluation and treatment plans both within and outside of the VA to ensure continuity of care. United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
Primary Care experience preferred. Reference:
VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements:
The work is mostly sedentary and requires some standing, bending, and carrying light items. The incumbent must have the ability to be mobile for prolonged periods of time to interact with the patients and other services.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
