Physician - Psychiatrist Outpatient

The incumbent will be assigned to the Mental Health Service Line at the Adam Benjamin, Jr. VA Outpatient Clinic in Crown Point, IN, a community based clinic of the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago. The candidate will be board-certified or board-eligible, highly skilled in the management of patients' mental health needs, and the evaluation and treatment of a diverse range of mental health disorders. Primary duties will be assigned by the clinic's MHSL lead or designee. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Treatment and professional direction of mental health outpatient care, including Acute, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Substance Abuse, Dual Diagnosis, telemental health and psychiatric consultations. Must be clinically competent to perform examinations, diagnosis, therapeutic treatment, be effective in handling emergencies, patient management and document in patient records. Must be effective in teaching (patient education and co-workers). Must be effective in planning, using administrative judgment and should have sound decision making skills. Must be emotionally stable, dependable and adhere to ethical standards. Work Schedule:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
Mental Health experience preferred. Reference:
VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements:
Walking, bending, stooping, and some lifting in the direct care of patients. There may also be extended periods of sitting.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
