Operational Laboratory Support Technician

General Function:
Assist all laboratory departments with general preparation and housekeeping.
Characteristic Duties and
Responsibilities:
1.) Thoroughly comprehend all operational and safety aspect of autoclaves and boilers.
2.) Assist and support all departments in preparing for daily activities.
3.) Maintain the warehouse in clean and orderly condition.
4.) Assist with general housekeeping and chemical sanitizing throughout the laboratory, including, but not limited to, cleaning building floors, gathering and emptying trash, light dusting, servicing, cleaning and supplying restrooms, cleaning and sanitizing laboratory supplies, decontamination and disposal of laboratory waste.
5.) Cut sponge material and aseptically package sponges, as required.
6.) Ability to understand the hazardous nature of chemical used in the laboratory.
7.) Additional duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships:
Direction Received: Reports to Operational Laboratory Support Supervisor
Direction Given: Assist in employee orientation and training in all aspects of operational laboratory support technician function
Minimum Requirements:
Requires high school diploma or GED, six months experience in maintenance or janitorial. Must be available to work a 1pm-9:30pm shift.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Desirable Traits:
Organizational skills and the ability to think on your feet; desire to be productive team member who exhibits until the job is done behavior. Must be constantly aware of surroundings, and able to work efficiently with other coworkers as they perform their daily duties.
Working Conditions:
Physical effort usually requires considerable walking and standing with some lifting.
Some exposure to unpleasant elements. Some element of personal risk due to lifting and carrying heavy objects. Handling of hazardous materials.
