The salary range for a CNS is $55,406.00-$109,178.00. The salary range for a Nurse Practitioner is $55,625.00-$112,086.00.

The Jesse Brown VA Medical Center ( /) is a 200-bed inpatient facility, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education, research and academic affiliations with the University of Illinois - Chicago and Northwestern University. The main campus resides on 13 acres in the Illinois Medical District, approximately three miles from downtown Chicago. JBVAMC also operates four Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in the Lakeside (downtown) area and Auburn Gresham (south side) community of Chicago, in Chicago Heights, Ill.; and the Adam Benjamin, Jr. VA Outpatient Clinic in Crown Point, IN, which serves the four counties of Northwestern Indiana.
The medical center is a part of VA Great Lakes Healthcare System (Network 12), which includes facilities in Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan.

The APRN will report to the Mental Health Service Line Nurse Manager and is responsible for the Psychiatric Assessment Clinic (PAC) and the Behavioral Health Lab (BHL) located at the Adam Benjamin Jr. Community Based Outpatient Clinic Located in Crown Point Indiana. He/she will provide direct, evidence-based, advanced practice, mental health nursing care at a level commensurate with established clinical guidelines and standards of practice in collaboration with the Physician(s).
The incumbent will assess, diagnose and treat a wide spectrum of psychiatric disorders including; psychotic disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, and, substance use disorders in accordance to the collaborative agreement. He/she will participate in quality improvement activities by monitoring care delivered on nursing care on all practice levels by participating in peer reviews. The PAC/BHL APRN will provide patient center care with knowledge and skills to effectively apply _all_ aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. These include, but are not limited to; performing comprehensive psychiatric assessments for mental health outpatients; perform emergency psychiatric assessments; formulating emergency psychiatric assessments; formulating diagnostic impressions; interprets data relating to the patients' current health status; performing treatment, planning, individual and group therapy; administering psychotropic medication; etc. The APRN will be expected to perform other duties as assigned. The APRN will be responsible for documentation of patient care in accordance with hospital and Joint Commission standards.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. The completion of course work equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6)
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
A Nurse Practitioner must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a State, possess a Master's degree from a program accredited by the ACEN or CCNE, and maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. The certification must be in the specialty to which the individual is being appointed or selected.
A Clinical Nurse Specialist must possess a Master's degree from an academic program accredited by the ACEN or CCNE and maintain full and current certification as a clinical nurse specialist from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. The certification must be in the specialty to which the individual is being appointed or selected.
Must be licensed with prescriptive privileges.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience.
Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and no experience; or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and no experience.
Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience.
Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years' experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years' experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no experience.

Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years' experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years' experience

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
